At Skirlaugh CE Primary School, we believe that every child deserves the very best start in life — no matter their background. The Pupil Premium is extra funding from the government that helps us make sure all pupils have the same opportunities to achieve and enjoy school. 

Our goal is simple: to help every child reach their full potential, feel proud of their achievements, and enjoy being part of our school community.

Mrs Pitois is the disadvantaged champion for our school and Mr Watkins is the link governor.

Who receives Pupil Premium funding?

This funding is provided for children who:

  • Are, or have been, eligible for free school meals in the last six years

  • Are looked after by the local authority or have previously been in care

  • Have parents currently serving in the armed forces

 

How is the funding used?

We carefully plan how to use our Pupil Premium funding so it has the biggest possible impact on children’s learning and wellbeing. This year, our priorities are to:

  • Raise attainment for disadvantaged pupils, particularly those aiming for the greater depth standard

  • Improve attendance, making sure all pupils, including those who are disadvantaged, are in school and ready to learn

  • Boost reading outcomes and nurture a real love of reading, helping every child to find joy in books

  • Increase participation in our full range of clubs, trips, and pupil leadership opportunities, ensuring disadvantaged pupils are fully involved and represented
